Definition : Eye (ophthalmic) surgery knives designed to make incisions in the cornea (i.e., corneal splitting). These devices typically consist of manual, slender, handheld instruments that have a straight handle and a small blade that can be either thin or wide and straight or angled. Corneal splitting knives are used mainly for anterior flap sclerotomy in the treatment of glaucoma.
