Masks, Tracheostomy, Aerosol Administration

Definition : Devices used to deliver air, oxygen, or a mixture of the two gases with aerosolized water particles to patients who have a tracheostomy airway. The masks are typically connected to an oxygen source and nebulizer with wide bore tubing and are constructed of plastic. Trachostomy masks for aerosol administration can be used over a tracheostomy tube or stoma and are typicially secured with a strap or ties around the patient's neck.
