Definition : Measuring instruments designed primarily to measure very small (in the order of femto coulombs) electric charge values; the instruments are frequently based on the accurate measurement of voltages. These devices typically consist of electronic instruments including a high-input impedance solid state amplifier (e.g., such as field-effect transistors, FETs), voltage supplies, and a display to show charge, voltage, and current values; they may also include external connections to attach ionization chambers to perform radiation measurements. Electrometers are frequently intended for radiation therapy dosimetry; they can measure charge from electrons, x-rays and gamma rays emitted by linear accelerators, cobalt 60 units, and other radiation sources.

Computerized Radiation Scanners Inc

Company Type: Parent

It is a building-block concept, meaning many of the components are interchangeable with each other and the computer software that drives them is common to all. A PC-computer software controls the scanner mechanism and collects data in real time using an electrometer/controller as a remote interactive device. The collected data is then later analyzed/plotted/printed/transferred to Treatment Plan files or other external non-CRS software. CRS maintains a program of continual product development and improvement. The products of CRS are periodically updated to keep them abreast of these and other advancements within the industry. Suggestions for advancements or improvement are welcomed by the staff of CRS. Hardware and software as supplied by CRS is a result of its own research and development and has been configured to assure compatibility between each functioning unit.
