Vein Graft Holding Instruments, Surgical

Definition : Handheld surgical instruments designed to hold vein grafts during surgical vein anastomosis and hold open the lumen of the vein graft to prevent catching of the opposite vein wall during suturing. These holders are typically shaped like a slender stylus (made of radiopaque sturdy plastic) with a tapered concave distal tip containing a stainless steel serrated clip to grasp the underside of the vein graft. The vein graft holding instrument holds the vein in place during suture placement around the graft's circumference.
