Duodenoscopes

Definition : Flexible endoscopes designed for direct insertion through the mouth in the upper gastrointestinal tract for visual examination, biopsy, and treating lesions of the interior of the proximal portion of the small intestine from pylorus to the jejunum (i.e., duodenum). Duodenoscopes usually consist of a flexible outer sheath, a lighting system, and a working channel for catheters and operative devices.
