Lasers, Ruby

Definition : Lasers with a solid-state rod of ruby, a precious stone that is red corundum (aluminum oxide), used as the active medium. Their emission wavelength is 694 nm (red). These lasers are operated in pulsed and Q-switched mode. The laser energy can be delivered through a flexible optical glass fiber.
