Definition : High-definition video monitors designed to display electronic images with a definition that is high enough for examination and diagnosis of most medical images (e.g., radiographic, ultrasonic, MRI). These device either in real time as they are obtained using a dedicated video camera or, more frequently, from a digital computer or computerized information system or workstation. These monitors typically include electronic circuitry to process the video signal and a screen (e.g., liquid crystal or plasma) to display the image. Monitors used to display images appropriate for medical examination usually have a resolution that is similar or better than full high-definition (1080 pixels of vertical resolution, i.e., 1920 ? 1080 pixels). Medical image high-definition video monitors are used to display images with a definition that is good enough to assess medical (e.g., radiologic) images and to perform diagnosis interpretation except for mammographic studies.
