Colonoscopes

Definition : Flexible endoscopes designed for direct insertion through the rectum in the lower gastrointestinal tract for visual examination, biopsy, and treatment of lesions of the interior of the colon; some of these devices can be used for the entire large intestine. Colonoscopes usually consist of a flexible outer sheath, a lighting system, and a working channel for catheters and operative devices.
