Bone Cap Implants

Definition : Implantable devices designed to cover the severed end of a long bone after amputation. These implants are typically a hollow plastic or ceramic cylinder with one end closed and the other open to permit insertion of the bone extremity. Bone cap implants are intended to control bone overgrowth of amputated limb bones (e.g., humerus, tibia) in children and youth.
