Retractors, Surgical, Nasopharyngeal, Palatine Uvula

Definition : Nasopharyngeal surgical retractors designed to temporarily separate and hold back the palatine uvula, exposing and providing better access to the throat and other surrounding anatomic structures. These retractors usually consist of handheld, manual, slender instruments with long shafts including a blunt wire blade at the distal end and a flat or rounded handle at the proximal end. Palatine uvula nasopharyngeal surgical retractors are used in a variety of therapeutic and surgical procedures inside the nose, pharynx, throat and surrounding anatomic structures.
