Lights, Surgical, Wall-Mounted

Definition : Lights designed to provide illumination to the surgical site that are mounted on fixtures (e.g., lamps) fixed to the wall. These units typically have counterbalanced arms that are free to rotate continuously at every joint to satisfy various needed height and angles during surgery. These lights offer a good illumination over a prolonged period of time on a flat and narrow surface and/or in a deep surgical cavity to assist medical personnel during a surgical procedure. They provide high-intensity illumination while reducing shadows and producing minimal color distortion. Wall-mounted surgical lights are available in several shapes and sizes and can use various types of bulbs such as incandescent, compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), halogen, and light-emitting diodes (LED). Single-head as well as multiple-head wall-mounted lights are also available.
