IVD Test Reagent/Kits, Molecular Assay, Nucleic Acid Processing, Purification

Definition : Molecular assay reagents designed for nucleic acid (e.g., DNA, RNA) purification, usually from samples obtained from body fluid specimens. The reagents are intended to isolate the desired nucleic acids (e.g., viral nucleic acids) without cross-contamination; the reagents are usually supplied as kits intended for a specific type of test. The separation of particular nucleic acids from other constituents of the primary sample may be achieved using a variety of technologies such as magnetic beads. Nucleic acid purification reagents are used in clinical laboratories to isolate nucleic acids for further procedures, such as replication (e.g., polymerase chain reaction, [PCR]), either for analysis as a diagnostic tool or for research.
