Infusion Pump Administration Sets

Definition : Primary intravenous administration sets designed for liquid administration from a bag or bottle through an infusion pump either to a hub catheter or needle at the patient site, or to an extension tube set attached to the patient site. These sets typically consist of plastic tubing, a check valve, a roller clamp, a Y-site connector for secondary tubing attachment, and luer adapters at both ends (either male or female). Most infusion pump administration sets include an anti-free flow mechanism, they may be vented or unvented, some sets are manufactured with special characteristics (e.g., latex-free)..
