Clamps, Surgical, Heart Auricle

Definition : Vascular surgical clamps designed for the atraumatic compression of one of the appendages (i.e., auricles) of the heart atrium (either right or left) during open-surgery procedures, usually to cause total or partial temporary occlusion. These clamps are typically handheld, manual instruments including two parts pivoted at the center with serrated curved distal blades and a ratchet locking mechanism. Dedicated auricle clamps are available in several sizes and curvatures according to the patient's anatomy and the intended surgical procedure.
