Brushes, Dental, Prophylaxis

Definition : Dental brushes designed to remove deposits and/or polish tooth surfaces (e.g., occlusal, facial, lingual) during dental prophylaxis procedures. These brushes typically include a set of tapered bristles at the distal tip and an appropriate configuration at the proximal end to be attached to a slow-speed rotary dental handpiece. Prophylaxis dental brushes are also used to polish teeth as part of the prophylaxis procedure; they are frequently a component of a tooth-polishing set.
